PPC Rally
Rules
for Participation in the PowerFest PPC RALLY
- The
Beaumont Airport is a private airport and we are their guests.
We should all respect their neighbors in the town of Beaumont
by not flying over the town, and Suzi and I ask that you respect
their property while on the premises.
- The
radio frequency of the airstrip is 122.9.
The grass runway gets lots of weekend G.A. traffic, so be
alert. You should
vacate the strip as quickly as possible after landing.
If you have an aviation transceiver, please monitor the
airport frequency on both take-off and landing.
- We
will use one of three air-to-air frequencies in this order –
122.75, 122.85, and 123.45. If 122.75 has chatter, we will
then switch to 122.85, then 123.45. If all have chatter,
then we’ll have to put up with it and switch back to 122.75.
Within a mile of the airport, you should switch back to the
airport’s frequency, 122.9.
- FRS
radios are o.k. for air-to-air communications with your “buddy”.
We suggest you use channel 9-11. We ask that if you have an
aviation radio that you use that instead of the FRS.
- It
is bow-hunting season for deer.
Bow hunters will be dispersed in the timber under which we
are flying. Please be
observant – if you see a vehicle parked near the timber where a
car or truck probably shouldn’t be – there’s most likely a
deer hunter within a couple of hundred yards of that vehicle.
Don’t fly low in that particular area.
Leave your low flying for the small draws and valleys with
sparse trees.
- Take
your cell phone with you (keep it in a secure place) as well as your
GPS. If you have an emergency, the hotel number is (620) 843-2422.
- This
weekend is the Kansas Field Trials of hunting dogs between Beaumont
and Eureka. There will be horses, trailers, motor homes, etc.
along the creek several miles to the northeast -- so be cautious of
them and give them a mile of freedom from us flying over.
- Yield
right of way to all G.A. planes.
You may taxi your PPC right into town and park it in the
hotel parking lot.
- We
should be able to access the internet from the hotel.
If we can, we will give a weather briefing each morning and
evening. Information
may be shared between pilots, but it will be the sole responsibility
of each pilot whether or not to fly.
- Have
fun and keep safety in mind at all times.
- The
elevation of the airport is 1,617. It is within the Eureka Low
MOA -- the MOA is from 2,500 - 6,000 feet MSL. We suggest you
stay below 2,500 MSL (900 AGL) unless you contact Wichita and make
sure the MOA is not active.
- By
signing this, you are agreeing that you are solely responsible for
any accidents or injuries that might occur to you while attending
the PPC RALLY or while flying your powered parachute during this
event between the dates of, October 13 - 17, 2005.
I have read the text above and agree that I will
comply with all of the rules as stated.
I will hold no one else responsible for any injuries or damages
that might occur from my flying of my PPC while attending the PowerFest
2005 PPC RALLY in Beaumont, Kansas 10/13/05 – 10/17/05.
